In a major boost to Ethiopia’s aviation industry, global aerospace giant Boeing has chosen Addis Ababa as the site for its new African headquarters. Moreover, this decision shows confidence in Ethiopia’s growing role in aviation and Boeing’s commitment to expanding across Africa.
A Vote of Confidence in Ethiopia
Boeing’s move recognizes Ethiopia’s long-standing aviation legacy, anchored by Ethiopian Airlines, one of Africa’s most successful carriers since 1945. The airline has expanded its network, modernized its fleet, and developed Bole International Airport into a regional hub. As a result, Boeing can leverage existing infrastructure and expertise.
“Ethiopia represents a dynamic market with tremendous potential,” said a Boeing spokesperson. “We believe this partnership will catalyze regional aviation growth.” Furthermore, it strengthens collaboration with local stakeholders.

In December 2024, the Addis Ababa Investment Commission (AAIC) indicated a strong start to the 2023/24 fiscal year.
