NAIROBI – April 5, 2025 – Kenya has lost one of its brightest legal minds, Senior Counsel Pheroze Nowrojee, who passed away at the age of 84. His death marks the end of an era in Kenya’s legal, democratic, and human rights history, but his legacy remains deeply embedded in the country’s constitutional foundations.

Born in 1941, Nowrojee descended from a family whose journey in Kenya began with the Uganda Railway in 1896. His grandfather, an engine driver, helped shape East Africa’s early infrastructure.
