Joshua Oigara Named Stanbic East Africa CEO

Joshua Oigara steps into the regional CEO role after nearly three years at the helm of Stanbic Bank Kenya. He succeeds Patrick Mweheire, who concludes his five-year tenure on August 31, 2025. Mweheire will, however, remain Chief Executive of Stanbic Kenya Holdings.

Stanbic Bank appoints Joshua Oigara as Regional CEO for East Africa, strengthening leadership as Patrick Mweheire steps down.

Stanbic Bank has appointed Dr. Joshua Oigara as Regional Chief Executive for East Africa, effective September 1, 2025.

Oigara, who currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic Bank Kenya, will continue to lead the Kenyan unit while assuming his new regional responsibilities, pending regulatory approval.

He succeeds Patrick Mweheire, who steps down on August 31, 2025, after a five-year tenure as Regional Chief Executive. Mweheire will, however, remain as Chief Executive of Stanbic Kenya Holdings.

Transition and Outlook

The leadership transition will take effect on September 1, 2025, enabling a smooth handover as Mweheire exits the role a day earlier.
