Old Mutual Investment Group Uganda unveils Private Wealth service for HNWIs, offering tailored portfolios and global securities through bespoke financial solutions.

Old Mutual Investment Group (OMIG) Uganda has officially launched Private Wealth by Old Mutual, a premium investment service for high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), family offices, alumni funds, endowments, and charitable foundations. The launch event, hosted at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel on May 27, 2025, brought together over 50 prominent investors and business leaders.

This move follows the path of Standard Chartered Kenya, which in April stated it was doubling down on wealth management in the second half of 2025.

🎯 Serving Uganda’s Growing Affluent Class

The introduction of Private Wealth follows feedback from clients whose wealth has exceeded conventional unit trust frameworks. “We listened to our clients,” said Zac Kisesi, Managing Director of OMIG Uganda. “They wanted advanced options to enhance returns and diversify risk.”

💼 Tailored Solutions & Global Access

Private Wealth offers bespoke, professionally managed portfolios tailored to each client’s:

  • Return expectations & risk appetite
  • Liquidity needs & investment horizon
  • Personal priorities (e.g., sustainability or legacy goals)

Clients gain access to local and international financial securities, including equities, bonds, and alternative assets—blending local market insights with global opportunities.

🔍 Expert Managed, Market-Driven

Kisesi emphasized: “With Private Wealth, we’ve built a solution that combines intelligent investment design, market access, and expert insight—all in one place.” The service includes:

  • Dedicated portfolio managers and investment consultants
  • Access to global capital markets
  • Regular performance reporting and tailored financial advice

🌍 Part of Continental Expansion

This launch aligns with Old Mutual’s pan-African strategy, aiming to deepen its footprint in frontier markets and support the region’s emerging affluent population. OMIG Uganda is leveraging its East African network to deliver international-grade wealth management locally.

✅ Why It Matters

  1. Elevates Uganda’s Wealth Ecosystem – Introducing sophisticated solutions that match the financial sophistication of global peers.
  2. Diversifies Investment Options – Expands beyond traditional savings to include international assets, bonds, and specialized portfolios.
  3. Regional Wealth Management Momentum – Strengthens East Africa’s attractiveness for asset management and financial services.

🧭 Final Take

With the launch of Private Wealth by Old Mutual, Uganda steps into a new era of wealth management—one that balances local market insight with global reach, meets the demands of a rising affluent class, and reinforces the country’s status in East Africa’s financial landscape.
